Peter Lataille does a head-stand on his surfboard while surfing a wave on the Penobscot River near Indian Island Wednesday afternoon. Lataille, a Hampden resident, started surfing ocean waves in 2001 and a few years later started using a paddle as well while surfing. “The paddle is like having a motor on your board and it also helps with initiating turns.” he said. He was able to surf the wave for ten to 15 minutes each time he cought the wave on his home-made surfboard.
